The man. The myth. The legend. H.R of Bad Brains returns to Asbury Park, that’s the Asbury Lanes to be specific, on Saturday, May 3rd with Dubb Agents and Russ Iglay’s (Underdog) side project HUGE plus Eastbourne. H.R. (Human Rights) has been known to pop up unannounced at venues around the city. This time its no secret. So you better get tickets quick.

For those unfamiliar, H.R., otherwise known as Paul D. Hudson, is the lead singer for hardcore/punk legends Bad Brains. Dude has a voice like no other. Iconic I tell you. Some people think H.R. is crazy but we say brilliant is more like it. When he’s not playing with the D.C. based band he’s most known for, H.R.’s knee deep in side projects with more of a reggae/dub bent.

Brothers Russ and Dean Iglay of Belmar have been playing music together and on their own since the early eighties. They’ve been staples of the Jersey Shore punk and hardcore scene ever since.

In fact their first band, Child Abuse, played its first show at The FastLane back in 1982 when these guys were just in their early teens. Hard to believe that more than 30 years later their still at it. Since then Russ and Dean have played in bands like Murphy’s Law, Good Humor and Underdog to name a few.

The two reconnect with HUGE, a band that’s been in existence for about 10 years but which has seen a fresh start of sorts. Pick up a copy of their 4 song self titled EP at the show.

Eastbourne is a three-piece Latin Reggae Surf Rock band from Long Branch. David Castaño, Dave Maldonado, and Omar Rodriguez unite to bring you their raw, live performance.

Tickets are $12 before the show (ticketweb.com) and $15 day of. It’s all ages so come one, come all. The Asbury Lanes is located 209 4th Ave. in Asbury Park. For more information visit www.asburylanes.com.
