The Parlor Gallery is hosting two openings on the same night, Saturday, July 5 from 7 to 11pm. “FABLE”, a solo show by New Jersey artist Victor Grasso will be presented in the main gallery along with “A Precious Few”, a group exhibition featuring works by Kris Lewis, Kate Zambrano, Mary O’Malley, Adam Wallacavage, Darla Jackson, Melodie Provenzano, Shawn Huckins in the rear gallery.

“FABLE” represents a series of thirteen new oil paintings inspired by the mythic folklore and iconic characters of civilizations past. These works weave together stories through portraiture and combine youthful beauty, childlike fascination, and a healthy dose of psychological realism. The end game is a fusion of elegance and darkness on linen.

The creative vision for “FABLE” was inspired by the model portrayed in Grasso’s paintings, Bela Lotozo. Grasso sketched out thirteen separate characters which came to life on canvas with elements such as horns and quills, fur and paper airplanes and religious iconography.

Of his new body of work, Grasso says, “FABLE is both our fear and our lust. It is fulfillingly appealing, while revealing our most hidden secrets, stealing the air from one’s lungs as the paintings seduce the psyche.”

Victor Grasso will be on hand for an Artist Talk at Parlor Gallery on Saturday, August 2nd at 7pm.

Both exhibitions will be on view until August 4th.
