Downtown Asbury’s Glide Surf Co. is hosting their next round of Donation Yoga starting this Wednesday, November 13th at 7PM. The 6 week program will donate 100% of the proceeds to the charity Waves for Water, a non-profit actively helping victims of Hurricane Sandy, specifically the surf community.

Glide co-owner Jessica Browne tells us, “We started Donation Yoga as an inexpensive way to build some community as well as bring people into the store. Prior to this week, attendees could donate whatever they wanted… no set fee to take the class in order to support the teacher. With the upcoming holidays, we’ve decided to collect the donations for the next 6 weeks and donate it towards Waves for Water.  We received a grant from them in July in order to reopen our doors in Asbury Park, due to our situation from Sandy, and feel like it is our turn to give back. All of the teachers agreed and were happy to make the donations.”

Glide had to close their former shop in Normandy Beach after Hurricane Sandy. The shop, owned by Jessica and husband Phil, opened on Bangs Avenue in July of this year. The boutique surf shop focuses on small production labels when it comes to the surfboards and clothing they sell. Support the shop and a great charity by checking out Donation Yoga this Wednesday. Bring your own mat. Glide is located at 520 Bangs Ave. in Asbury Park.
