Eric Van’t Zelfden has a love for Asbury Park like the rest of us who’ve been hanging around here all these years, trying our best to keep the place from falling off a cliff towards conformity.

The Jersey native, who now calls Brooklyn home, is showing his passion for Asbury through photography. His exhibit, NO MORE ASBURY PARK, opens Saturday, October, 26th at Hotel Tides, 408 Seventh Avenue.HTPRT06Jenn Hampton of Parlor Gallery and Asbury Lanes

The show is a collection of landscape and architectural photographs of Asbury Park shot between 2005 and 2008, with recent portraiture featuring eleven people “who saw the city for more than empty streets and abandoned buildings – but a space to create” as Van’t Zelfden sees it.

“The honest intent with my show is to shed some light on and throw a little credit to the people I believe have kind of laid the groundwork for many of the new folks coming to town, ” says Van’t Zelfden.

“In many ways it’s representation of my personal experiences and views of Asbury Park from a specific time, but I think many others share the same sentiments.”

Some of those members of the community featured in NO MORE ASBURY PARK include Kate Hiltz & Zak Kaplan of Chunksaah Records, Pete Steinkopf & Bryan Kienlen of The Bouncing Souls, Jenn Hampton of Parlor Gallery & Asbury Lanes, Kay Harris of Asbury Galleria, Jeffrey Haveson of the former Plan B Restaurant, Michael Sodano & Nancy Sabino of The Showroom, Kathy Kelly of Paranormal Books & Curiosities and Robert Ilvento of Silverball Museum Arcade.
