WEEKEND SURF IN BELMAR AND ASBURY

Lots and lots of surf culture happening this weekend in Belmar and Asbury.

First, Belmar hosts the Belmar Pro from September 11 through the 14. The Annual event will spread itself out over the beach between 16th and 18th avenue, drawing international crowds who’ve heard tell of Belmar’s fine hospitality and even finer waves. (more…)

HIGH SEAS, OPEN ROADS HELMET ART SHOW THIS SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 6TH AT ASBURY LANES

Exactly this time last year, myself and good pal Seth Ferris presented the first ever High Seas, Open Roads motorcycle helmet art show here in Asbury Park, NJ. It was (and still is) the first show of its kind in New Jersey/New York, based on a similar west coast gallery show called 21 Helmets in Portland, Oregon. We wondered why there wasn’t a similar event on the east coast (at least that we are aware of) and decided to make it happen here. (more…)

One morning last spring, I was freezing my ass off on Cookman Ave., waiting for the perpetually late coast-to-city Academy bus, when a late model muscle car pulled up across the street. DEUS SURF FILM PREMIERS TONIGHT AT AP YACHT CLUB

Deus is one of our favorite companies in the whole wide world. They are the motorcycle/surfboard company from Australia with a US location in Venice, CA. Asbury Park’s own Lightly Salted surf shop is the only area supplier of their gear. Deus is also a sponsor for the triCity affiliated Asbury Anchor helmet art show High Seas, Open Roads helmet art show happening Sept 6th at Asbury Lanes. Deus is also applying their artistic genius to a helmet for the show as well. (more…)
