I have a ton of old tapes in “The Vaults” as I like to call them. A stash of about 20 or so filled with skate footage of my friends and I, dating back to the late 80’s. My very own personal time capsule filled with memories of days long washed away by the steady persistence of linear time.

Many of the people on these tapes were simply local rippers, some actually went on to have short lived professional skateboard careers.

In any event, they were all my friends and fellow human beings who I shared some really fun times with while riding skateboards.

This video was filmed sometime around 1995 throughout Monmouth and Ocean counties, as well as New York City and Philly. I’m sure we used some shitty camera, that was most likely borrowed and I edited this the old fashioned budget way. The tools for such an edit were a television, a VHS player and video camera. The method? Record, pause, pause, pause, pause… Anyone out there remember this formula? To get a clean edit you needed some pretty precise timing with that pause button my friend. It wasn’t as easy as it sounds.

With this little edit we set out to basically just ollie up, down and over shit with as minimal flip trickery as possible. We were riding wheels in the 60 to 65mm range and obnoxiously wide boards. We had some sort of love for army pants. Fuck! We had some wack dressing style going on here. A crossbreed of the 90’s skater meets goofy straight edge hardcore kid. Not one of my finer fashion moments. But they were good times and I get stoked watching this video.

So I hope you enjoy watching Don Binaco, Brian Binaco and myself ollie over a bunch of things in the Tri State area.
